Let these Financial Stress release tips manage stress for you!
Stress- the feeling- happens when there is a trigger, an event or situation that we don’t resolve. It’s caused when we have a problem but don’t take action to resolve the problem.
According to many people we’re in a financial crisis at the moment. So let’s learn some simple actions that help manage financial stress. These techniques were inspired by the Stress reducer. Remember: stress is caused when we don’t take action to resolve a problem.
1. Get a clear picture of your financial situation. This may make you feel VERY uncomfortable. That is OK. You might have been running from this so now is a good time to face it. Do a budget of what you currently spend. Include ALL of your expenses. Include ALL of your income. Be honest. Look at shopping receipts, credit card and bank statements to make sure you’ve included everything.
2. Do you earn more than you spend or spend more than you earn? Do you break even? How can you tip the scale to earning more than you spend? Stress is often caused by thinking “I can’t do anything about this.” Change it to “what can I do about this?”
3. Learn to give. Giving money to someone else really teaches money discipline. You’ll appreciate your dollars when you give some to others. And help someone else as well. Learn to give a little first.
4. Set an ideal budget. Include savings. Most financial experts recommend saving 10% of your gross income. Sounds alot? It is if it’s your last dollar! Put it away before you do your spending. Then use what’s left over.
5. Reduce non essential spending. Take away and entertainment can be reduced, giving you more freedom for saving and debt repayment. Don’t worry, it’s only for a while as you get control of your finances. As you learn to manage your money you’ll be able to allocate cash for entertainment and fun.
6. Increase earning! Can you get a promotion, run a business on the side, get a whole new job? How can you turn your hobby in to cash? What is something you are all ready doing that you can profit from? What’s something new you can do that you can profit from? Explore the options, you may find having financial freedom is easier than you think.
These actions will help manage financial stress. However, sometimes we need more to relieve stress than this. Stress management techniques can help us think clearly to find solutions ourselves.
Breathe deeply and remind yourself that it is nowhere near as bad as it feels. In fact, most stress is imagined and exaggerated about something that never happens or if it does, it’s not a bad as we thought. Learn to let it go, and you will think clearly so everything can be ok. Life goes on! Enjoy it!
